it's been some kind of day

well, this was a day of filming. but before i got started, i had to wash my hair. i'd untwisted my hair and it had bee blowing in the wind for a couple of days and it was driving me crazy. so, i had to wash it, oil it, and angela twisted it - a good 2 hours. my head and hair felt better for it.
anyway, when we finally left to stroll the streets of santa fe, angela stopped a couple from colorado, moving to new mexico. we all agree, it was a divine appointment becaus the rest of the day was the same. whether talking with someone and journaling the experience, or filming, God was definitely present. it would be nice to say He's easy to find but that is not the case for everyone.
we've documented life experiences from people who have been hurt and don't engage well unless they feel safe. key word, safe.
so, you have to know that we are wanting to give people a voice they have never been allowed to use - and they are speaking.
today my life was imprinted by others who i would never have encountered in my comfort zone. but this journey is not about comfort.
hopefully you would have read angela's and laura's version. i have to process what i've seen and heard. since leaving west texas and entering new mexico, i am still distilling what i've seen and experienced.
today, i saw people walk by homeless people and not see them standing or sitting right in their sight or in their path. amazing how we don't want to see or acknowledge 'things ugly and dirty'. but we want to plant churches and make nice with people. shame.
so, i return to my hotel room and look at the video we've shot and wonder, what does grace look like and how do i live it out in my day.
i'm tired. it's late, and i must prepare for the next leg of our journey. i will continue to process and then write what i continue to see.
