Still Looking for God

Where does one find God?
In churches (meaning a denominational people group), church buildings, foliage of varying types, people & other living things...there are many answers - depending to whom you speak.

In Wisconsin a woman responded with, "Well isn't He everywhere?"
Is HE?
I circumnavigated a very large church here in St Paul MN
St Paul's Cathedral
stained glass, huge confessionals (the dark place where you confess your sins to a person who dispenses prayer-penance), vaulting ceilings, and ornate breath-stopping architecture
It "felt" holy
The sparse people sitting and kneeling in prayer would believe it to be so - I think
I dont' know
In the midst of them seeking God there was a wedding rehearsal and our still and film photography encounters.

Angela spoke with a couple who did not wish to speak with us "on camera".
It's like that sometimes.
We've spoken with several people who've shared their opinions. Those we just write about in our journals.

So, as we travel to Iowa we will have opportunities just to say "hello" and from that initial encounter something may happen. We don't push/force the process because then it doesn't seem real.
Which leads me back to my question...
Where does one find God?
My answer, my voice, continues to be added to other voices and God continues to be found, missed, or overlooked.

Suite Green Bay

The best part of this day were the meals at breakfast and lunch
It was a day of light house hunting,
beach combing, and
lake coastal driving
(let me not forget the highway construction)

We took many photos of St. Ignace MI before we left.
Had a wonderful breakfast at Java Joe's
and Joe was a delightful host
walking through his eclectic cafe meeting those who dined on his fare
I learned about the Ojibwa from Sue.
She's returned home;
there's healing in her journey.

On our way to Green Bay we traveled US Hwy 2
scenic
coastal road
winding into Naubin's thruway
and was entertained by the wit and humor of the owners
There are stories to be told along our highways & byways

God looks very different to each of us
and a picture tells a story
Angela will load photos on our main page
I will add some later

Tonight we map the next leg of this 30-day journey
in a suite location

Between Two Lakes

Very large lakes
Michigan and Huron
I have a view of Lake Huron from our hotel room
with screaming, churgling (that's what it sounds like), limping sea gulls
Clouds parted for the paint brushed yellow-orange red sunet on the marina
breathtaking

The journey up here (and it's 'up here') wound through hills, farmland
passing lumber trucks
and small towns with people who smiled 'hello'
asking if we were from their place
I don't blend
but...
that didn't seem to matter
times change in some places

We stopped at a coffee shop in Mancelona
looking for a meal
found great conversation with Michael and Kelly instead
and met children/youth very much into the joys of summer
watching a young boy walk in with a fish he'd caught in his hand?
priceless
listening to Kelly blessed my soul

North highways & interstates wind, climb, dip, & bump and then fall into
the massive Mackinaw bridge
welcome passage (for a slight fee of $2.50) Lakes Michigan and Huron

We've spoken to more than a few people
looking for God
the answers are different
sometimes the same
and...
I'm still looking :o

Grand Rapids MI

Well, Well, Well!
I have not been in this state since my days as a USAF officer
Time does fly
That time it was early spring and I was visiting friends
When I opened the front door of their house all I saw was snow
Have I shared that I don't like a lot of snow?

So, I'm here in Grand Rapids and it is beautiful country
Water, water everywhere
This evening
after a peaceful day of rest
we visited a local park (which had a large body of water)
and took still photos and some film

Tomorrow we head due north to the place where Lakes Michigan & Huron meet
There will be lots of photo ops along the way

For those of you awaiting pictures, they will arrive shortly
