Atlantic Coastal Travels Changed

I continue to marvel at the plans I make and how they are changed by God himself. With our map out on the table at a local Starbucks we couldn't chart our next destination - Cape Hatteras. Angela loves lighthouses & the lighthouse on the cape's the largest. But God had other plans.

From the beginning we determined not to make this trip about us and continue learning that prayer is the work.
I put my hand on the map and stopped our planning. Something wasn't working and could it be that we were going in the wrong direction? Over the past days Angela had mentioned Charlotte NC and each of us in turn kept calling our next destination by a different name. Laura wasn't convinced the cape was our destination. So, what could be askew?
Pausing when our travel plans weren't forming we collectively knew to change direction; and, again I was reminded of apostle Paul trying desperately to get to where he wanted to go, Asia Minor, and learning through a dream that he was to go to Macedonia.

Tonight we've arrived in Charlotte NC, our Macedonia, excited about God's plan in the course change. After a delicious local meal we met three people at a local neighborhood art walk and will share fellowship with them at their place of worship tomorrow.

The adventure continues as each of us tell our story.

Today I Learned...

Sweet grass baskets are hand-woven with styles varying between sewers. Intricate weaving of different grasses to create a unique piece of art. I think God does that with each of us. That's something to write about at a later date.

Laura took photos as I filmed Angela talking with Lawrence, Sarah, and their grand niece Montasia on the outskirts of Mount Pleasant SC

I'll let Laura post her photos which are beathtaking - as always.

A note about the weather. It's wet hot and it's beautiful for my hair and complexion. I'm simply gorgeous with moisture:o

How It's Been

Clothes thrown in squeezed-shut suitcases stuffing confined space that includes camera gear, laptops, external hard drives, blankies, pillows, hats, bags, bodies strapped in remembering to breathe.

I have to remember to breathe. It's been six, count them, six days since we've left Texas and Hurricane Lola's sucked us into the vortex of traveling chaos. Dropped for brief respites only to be vacuumed up again.

We called a halt today, needed to stop and breathe. Needed to write something, look at the footage, listen to the singer/songwriter remind me that I'm not looking for people in America, I'm looking for God.

I watched what I saw through my moving lens - rivers lapping bridges and walls, open and city roads, music and dialogue.

We've decided to share how our lives have changed since our last 'outing' in June 2007 - two years. So much to tell and we're taking all the time in the world to talk, photograph, and film how we're looking for God in America.

Early Morning Musings

We made it to Sebring FL after a save by a friend of Paul & Laura in Pensacola; thank you Alice, and sweet respite with dear friends of mine - Paul & Ludy. Late-night meal and lively conversation greeted us on the outskirts of Lady Lake only to be awakened to a scrumptious (sp) breakfast topped with juice and strong coffee. The golf cart neighborhood tour with Paul and Tiny rounded the morning and we prayed together before we got on the road again.
Here in Sebring I will call it our artist's colony. More when I start my day later.
